How GearDrop produces deal records

GearDrop standardizes facts observed on public brand, outlet, and retailer pages without presenting one observation as a permanent price promise.

Short answer

Each product record retains an identity, brand, retailer source, market, currency, source URL, and observation time where available. A discount is calculated only when a positive original price is higher than the current price. Always confirm transaction facts with the retailer.

Processing flow

  1. Read public sources
Source-specific collectors read public brand, outlet, and retailer pages without bypassing login or access controls.
  2. Normalize facts
Brand, name, category, market, currency, prices, sizes, source, and timestamps are mapped into a consistent record.
  3. Run quality gates
Freshness, minimum volume, URL lifecycle, price relationships, images, and source completeness are checked before publication.
  4. Publish with time boundaries
The live database is preferred and static data is a fallback; records retain the latest successful observation time.

Discount and comparison limits

  • Discount percentage is rounded from (original price minus current price) divided by original price.
  • Reference currency conversions are not checkout quotes and exclude taxes, shipping, duties, card fees, and returns.
  • Similar product names can refer to different years, genders, colors, sizes, regions, or SKUs.
  • Missing size data does not mean in stock or sold out.
If GearDrop conflicts with the retailer, use the retailer checkout and policy pages as the final transaction source.
